Our Registered Practical Nurse and Registered Dietitian help you stay on top your health with monthly community blood pressure and blood sugar checks. These free drop-in screenings offer a quick way to check your blood pressure and blood sugar, ask questions and get connected with helpful health resources. This program takes place in the Terrace Bay Seniors Centre, Collingwood Court and the Schreiber Seniors Centre (members only for screenings taking place at the Seniors Centres).
Health promotion is about empowering people and communities to take charge of their well-being. It focuses on building knowledge, skills, and supportive environments that make healthy choices easier. Through education, prevention, and community action, health promotion helps improve quality of life and reduce the risk of illness before it starts.
Our team can offer free Nicotine
Replacement Therapy (NRT)
through both the STOP program
and Moving On to Being Free.
They can also help you develop a
plan and support you as you
quit/reduce smoking or vaping.

The NSFHT care coordinator can
help people who are struggling
with a variety of issues and find
programs and resources to help
them.
Our dietitian can provide
information and counselling for
any health issues and also discuss
healthy eating in general
(including label reading) and
Intuitive Eating.
Intake for counselling through our care coordinator and navigation to the resources that best meets the patients needs, short-term solution focused counselling, workshops, treatment groups and maintenance sessions for people who have completed counselling in past but might need a little "tune up".
NSFHT manages a registry of
all patients who have been
diagnosed with pre-diabetes and
diabetes, reminding people of
when they are due for blood work
and following up on results.
